Address navigation in Dnipro: new standards for the convenience of citizens

A modern address navigation system has been implemented in Dnipro, which makes orientation in the city convenient and intuitive. Let's consider the main elements and requirements for address signs approved by the city council.

Types of address signs

The navigation system includes several types of signs:

Named - display the name of the street
Numbered - display the house number
Addressed - combine the name of the street and the house number
Entrance (named and numbered) - are placed near the entrances
Direction signs - indicate the way to buildings or entrances

Zoning of the city

Dnipro is divided into two navigation zones:

Zone A - areas with dense construction, where sidewalks adjoin the facades. This includes the central streets of the city, including Yavornytskyi Avenue, European Boulevard and others.

Zone B - areas with sparse development, where the distance from the sidewalk to the facade exceeds 20 meters, as well as areas of private development.

Design and technical characteristics

All signs are made in a single style using a specially developed DniproCity font. Main colors: white, black and blue. The sizes of the signs are standardized:

Named: from 420×240 mm to 1140×240 mm
Numbered: from 240×240 mm to 360×240 mm
Address: 480×360 mm

Placement rules

Installation height of signs: not lower than 2.6 m and not higher than 5 m from the sidewalk level. Named signs must be installed on the corners of buildings at intersections. Numbered signs - on all buildings whose facades face the street.

Bilingualism and navigation

All signs contain information in Ukrainian and Latin, which makes navigation convenient for both local residents and foreign guests. Transliteration is performed according to standardized rules.

Support and maintenance

Building balancers are required to keep signs clean, cleaning them at least once every six months. When repairing facades, signs are temporarily dismantled and replaced with temporary ones.

The new address navigation system makes the Dnipro more convenient for living and orientation, meeting modern urban standards. Thanks to clear requirements for the design and placement of signs, a single visual style of urban space is created.
